- Description: शिवाजी महाराज ने एक पत्र में लिखा था—‘‘स्वयं भगवान् के ही मन में है कि हिंदवी-स्वराज्य निर्मित हो।’’ उस युवा वीरपुरुष ने क्रांतियुद्ध की पहल की। शिवाजी महाराज ने शालिवाहन संवत् 156७ (ई.स. 16४5) में अपने एक साथी के पास भेजे हुए पत्र में—स्वयं पर लगे इस आरोप का निषेध किया कि बीजापुर के शाह का प्रतिरोध कर उन्होंने राजद्रोह का पाप किया है। उन्होंने इस बात का स्मरण कराते हुए उच्च आदर्शों की भावना भी जाग्रत् की कि अपना एकनिष्ठ बंधन यदि किसी से है तो वह भगवान् से है, न कि किसी शाह- बादशाह से। उन्होंने उस पत्र में लिखा है— ‘‘आचार्य दादाजी कोंडदेव और अपने साथियों के साथ सह्याद्रि पर्वत के शृंग पर ईश्वर को साक्षी मानकर लक्ष्य प्राप्ति तक लड़ाई जारी रखने और हिंदुस्थान में ‘हिंदवी-स्वराज्य’ यानी हिंदू-पदपादशाही स्थापित करने की क्या आपने शपथ नहीं ली थी? स्वयं ईश्वर ने हमें यह यश प्रदान किया है और हिंदवी-स्वराज्य के निर्माण के रूप में वह हमारी मनीषा पूरी करनेवाला है। स्वयं भगवान् के ही मन में है कि यह राज्य प्रस्थापित हो।’’ शिवाजी महाराज की कलम से उतरे ‘हिंदवी-स्वराज’—इस शब्द मात्र से एक शताब्दी से भी अधिक समय तक जिस बेचैनी से महाराष्ट्र का जीवन तथा कर्तव्य निर्देशित हुआ और उसका आत्मस्वरूप जिस तरह से प्रकट हुआ, वैसा किसी अन्य से संभव नहीं था। मराठों की लड़ाई आरंभ से ही वैयक्तिक या विशिष्ट वर्ग की सीमित लड़ाई नहीं थी। हिंदूधर्म की रक्षा हेतु, विदेशी मुसलिम सत्ता का नामोनिशान मिटाने के लिए तथा स्वतंत्र और समर्थ हिंदवी-स्वराज्य स्थापित करने के लिए लड़ी गई वह संपूर्ण लड़ाई हिंदू लड़ाई थी।

They take him through the turmoil and toil of leaders like Sardar Patel and their distinctive contribution to shaping today's India. Advani's blogs have a dual purpose: they mirror an era gone by and yet link its relevance to an India, raring to take on the world. The blogs, therefore, successfully merge two periods: one to which Advani himself belongs with another which sees him as a mentor. That Advani has been a consequential politician is a given. As a protagonist in the political playfield spanning decades, he, along with Atal Behari Vajpayee, not only formed the Bharatiya Janata Party but transformed it dramatically. If the BJP is nationally in the reckoning today, it is because of the Atal-Advani vision of bringing it centre-stage from the margins. It is through this journey that he redefined secularism. During his historic yatras, including the Ramjanambhoomi and Somnath to Ayodhya, the country was compelled to redefine secularism and distinguish it from the pseudo-secularism handed down by adversaries. To those who have a stake in India's political future, Advani's blogs are a practical guide; for others an exciting read.
