राही मासूम रज़ा के औपन्यासिक कर्म की मुख्यधारा के बरक्स ‘कारोबारे तमन्ना’ की ख़ूबी इसके दिलचस्प होने में है। यह अपने कथ्य के आधार पर विशिष्ट है। हिन्दी साहित्य की मुख्यधारा में लिखे उपन्यासों से इतर राही ने शाहिद अख़्तर और आफ़ाक़ हैदर नाम से उर्दू भाषा में कई उपन्यासों की परम्परा में परिगणित होने के कारण कभी चर्चा के लायक़ ही नहीं समझे गए।

साथ की तीनों कहानियाँ, 'मुनिया', 'टेस्टर्ज टी' और 'अस्पताल' मधु भादुड़ी की किस्सागोई की बानगी हैं। वैसी ही सघन घटनात्मकता और क्लाइमेक्स की स्थितियाँ इनमें मौजूद हैं, जैसी आपको शास्त्रीय कहानियों से अपेक्षित होती हैं। एक लेखिका के बतौर मधु भादुड़ी की यह तीसरी प्रस्तुति आपको रोमांचित करेगी और हिंदी लेखक के विश्वव्यापी होते दायरे के प्रति आश्वस्त भी।
