- Description: ‘रामनगरी’ मराठी के सुपरिचित लेखक और लोकनाट्यकर्मी राम नगरकर का आत्मकथात्मक उपन्यास है। उपन्यास इन अर्थों में कि इसकी शैली उपन्यासधर्मी है और ‘आत्मकथात्मक’ इन अर्थों में कि इसके स्थान–काल–पात्र, सब वास्तविक हैं और ‘मैं’ अर्थात् ‘रामचन्द्र्या’ (बकौल बाप के ‘भड़वे’!) अर्थात् लेखक राम नगरकर के आसपास घूमते हैं। चूँकि इस उपन्यास के लेखक जाति से नाई हैं, और चूँकि यह ‘आत्मकथात्मक’ रचना है, इसलिए इसके पहले पृष्ठ से अन्तिम पृष्ठ तक एक ऐसे ‘हज्जाम’ की उपस्थिति पंक्ति–दर–पंक्ति महसूस होती रहती है, जो एक ओर तो सवर्ण समाज द्वारा पग–पग पर अपमानित–प्रताड़ित होता रहता है, और दूसरी ओर अपनी ‘कूढ़मग़ज़ी’ में क़ैद रहने को भी विवश है। लेकिन इस विरोधाभास के प्रति ‘रामनगरी’ के लेखक का रुख़ आत्मदया–प्रधान नहीं, बल्कि व्यंग्य–प्रधान है, और व्यंग्य भी इतना तीखा कि तेज़ चाकू की तरह चीरता चला जाए। बेबाकी इस हद तक कि जहाँ सारी हदें टूट जाएँ; मतलब, जहाँ मौक़ा मिला, ख़ुद को भी गिरफ़्त में लेने से बाज़ नहीं आए। इसके बावजूद, चूँकि इसके लेखक की मुख्य हिस्सेदारी लोक–नाटकों के क्षेत्र में रही है, इसलिए लोकरंजन की बात वे एक क्षण के लिए भी नहीं भूलते यानी चुटकी तो तिलमिला देनेवाली काटते हैं, लेकिन ‘उफ़’ नहीं करने देते और माहौल में ठहाके–ही–ठहाके गूँजते रहते हैं।
