- Description: “धर्म को ग्रहणशील होना चाहिए और ईश्वर सम्बन्धी अपने विश्वासों में भिन्नता के कारण एक-दूसरे का तिरस्कार नहीं करना चाहिए। ईश्वर सम्बन्धी सभी सिद्धान्त मानव-सिद्धान्त के तहत आने चाहिए। और जब धर्म इतने उदार हो जाएँगे तो उनकी कल्याणकारी शक्ति सौ गुना हो जाएगी। धर्मों में अद्भुत शक्ति है लेकिन उनकी संकीर्णताओं के कारण उनसे लाभ की जगह हानि ज़्यादा हुई है।" ये शब्द स्वामी विवेकानन्द के हैं जो अपने एक अन्य लेख में यह भी कहते हैं कि, “लोग भारत के पुनरुद्धार के विषय में जो जी में आए कहें, मैं अपने अनुभव के बल पर कह सकता हूँ कि जब तक तुम सच्चे अर्थों में धार्मिक नहीं होते, भारत का उद्धार होना असम्भव है।” स्वामी विवेकानन्द भारत के ऐसे चिन्तक थे जिनके विषय में गुरुदेव रवीन्द्रनाथ टैगोर ने रोम्यां रोलां को लिखा था कि अगर आप भारत को जानना चाहते हैं तो सबसे पहले विवेकानन्द का अध्ययन कीजिए। धर्म और धार्मिक होने के सन्दर्भ में उन्हीं स्वामी विवेकानन्द के उपरोक्त दो कथन स्वयं घोषित करते हैं कि आज इक्कीसवीं सदी में वे हमारे लिए कितने उपयोगी और प्रासंगिक हैं। आज जब विचार को लेकर नहीं धर्मों के झंडों को लेकर दुनिया एक नए ध्रुवीकरण की दिशा में बढ़ रही है, हमें धार्मिक होने के सही मायने समझने की ज़रूरत है। सभी धर्म अलग-अलग समय और अलग-अलग जगहों पर उस स्थान और काल की समस्याओं से निजात पाने के प्रयासों के रूप में सामने आए, और अगर कालान्तर में चलकर वे व्यक्ति की इयत्ता का, उसकी पहचान का, उसके सामूहिक बोध और यहाँ तक कि राष्ट्रों तक का आधार बन गए तो इससे सिर्फ़ यह पता चलता है कि न तो कोई धर्म अपने आप में पूर्ण है और न ही व्यक्ति अभी इतना विकसित हुआ है कि वह धर्म के बिना अपना काम चला सके। कह सकते हैं कि हमें अभी सच्चे अर्थों में धार्मिक होना नहीं आया। धर्मों के सांसारिक-राजनीतिक दुरुपयोग की वजह भी यही है। ऐसे समय स्वामी विवेकानन्द के लेखों, भाषणों, कक्षालापों के इस प्रतिनिधि संचयन का प्रकाशन विशेष महत्त्व रखता है। आशा है कि इसके अध्ययन से हमें धर्म, नैतिकता, भक्ति, ईश्वर और हिन्दुत्व के सच्चे अर्थों तक पहुँचने में मदद मिलेगी।

- Description: यह किताब जीवन के दो पक्षों के बारे में है। एक स्त्री का और दूसरा उपनिवेश का। न इस उपनिवेश को समझना आसान है और न स्त्री को। अगर यह उपनिवेश वही होता जिससे बीसवीं सदी के मध्य में कई देशों और सभ्यताओं ने मुक्ति पाई थी तो शायद हम इसे राजनीतिक और आर्थिक परतंत्रता की संरचना करार दे सकते थे। अगर यह उपनिवेश वही होता जिससे लड़ने के लिए राष्ट्रवादी क्रान्तियाँ की गई थीं और आत्मनिर्भर अर्थव्यवस्था की अवधारणा पेश की गई थी तो शायद हम इसके ख़िलाफ़ उपनिवेशवाद विरोधी प्रत्यय की रचना आसानी से कर सकते थे। यह नवउपनिवेश के नाम से परिभाषित हो चुकी अन्तरराष्ट्रीय वित्तीय पूँजी की अप्रत्यक्ष हुकूमत भी नहीं है। यह तो अन्तराष्ट्रीय वित्तीय पूँजी, पितृसत्ता, इतरलिंगी यौन चुनाव और पुरुष-वर्चस्व की ज्ञानमीमांसा का उपनिवेश है जिसकी सीमाएँ मनोजगत से व्यवहार-जगत तक और राजसत्ता से परिवार तक फैली हैं। दूसरे पक्ष में होते हुए भी स्त्री पाले के दूसरी तरफ़ नहीं है। वह उपनिवेश के बीच में खड़ी है। उपनिवेश के ख़िलाफ़ संघर्ष उसका आत्म-संघर्ष भी है और यही स्थिति स्त्री को समझने की मुश्किलों के कारण बनी हुई है। स्त्री मुक्ति-कामना से छटपटा रही है लेकिन उपनिवेश के वर्चस्व से उसका मनोजगत आज भी आक्रान्त है। गुज़रे ज़मानों के उपनिवेशवाद विरोधी संघर्षों की तरह औरत की दुनिया के सिपहसालार उपनिवेश के साथ हाथ-भर का वह अन्तराल स्थापित नहीं कर पाए हैं जो इस लड़ाई में कामयाबी की पहली शर्त है। ‘उपनिवेश में स्त्री : मुक्ति-कामना की दस वार्ताएँ’ इस अन्तराल की स्थापना की दिशा में एक प्रयास है। ये वार्ताएँ कारख़ाने और दफ़्तर में काम करती हुई स्त्री, लिखती-रचती हुई स्त्री, प्रेम के द्वन्द्व में उलझी हुई स्त्री, मानवीय गरिमा की खोज में जुटी हुई स्त्री, बौद्धिक बनती हुई स्त्री और भाषा व विमर्श के संजाल में फँसी हुई स्त्री से सम्बन्धित हैं।

- Description: निराला का कवि-विकास एकरैखिक या सपाट नहीं है, उसमें कई घुमाव हैं, उसके कई स्तर हैं। एक ही समय में भिन्न प्रकार की कविताओं के साथ कवि अपने पाठकों और आलोचकों के समक्ष चुनौती देता खड़ा हो जाता है। निराला इसीलिए महाकवि हैं क्योंकि एक तरफ़ तो उनमें क्लैसिकी परम्परा के दर्शन होते हैं, वहीं दूसरी ओर एकदम अपने आसपास के परिवेश के और जनधर्मिता की कविता के। निराला में मुक्ति की एकल याचना नहीं है, बल्कि सामूहिक चेतना है। निराला का साहित्य न साहित्यिक कट्टरता या धार्मिक कट्टरता के समक्ष घुटने टेकता है और न साम्राज्यवाद के। उनके चिन्तन में भौतिकवाद के तत्त्व भी उपस्थित हैं और वे किसी ईश्वर द्वारा संसार के सृजन का मज़ाक़ उड़ाते हैं। उनके धार्मिक दृष्टिकोण के केन्द्र में मनुष्य है, इसीलिए विज्ञान की सत्ता व उसकी सामाजिक भूमिका को तथा आधुनिक सभ्यता के मूल्यों को भी वे सहज स्वीकार करते थे। निराला की कविता मनुष्य के सम्पूर्ण जीवन-व्यापार की कविता भी है जिसमें जीवन का सम्पूर्ण संगीत है। निराला रचना को ‘युद्ध कौशल’ कहते थे और गद्य को ‘जीवन-संग्राम की भाषा’। अपने कथा-साहित्य में वे जीवन-संग्राम को अंकित करते चलते हैं। निराला ने अपनी मुक्ति-चेतना के साथ जैसे कविता को मुक्त किया वैसे ही कथा को भी। निराला की कहानियाँ भी हिन्दी की परम्परागत कहानियों के रूप और संगठन को अतिक्रमित करती हैं। हर पीढ़ी अपने महाकवि को ‘डिस्कवर’ करती है, इसलिए हर पीढ़ी का अपना चयन होता है। सम्पादन की चौथी पीढ़ी में यह संचयन है। हमारी पीढ़ी का चयन और हमारे अपने निराला की खोज!
