Off The Camera
- Author Name:
Brajesh Rajput
- Book Type:

- Description: Whatever a TV reporter shows on-screen", writes Brajesh Rajput, "is a very limited form of the real story". In his many years as a veteran journalist, Rajput has no doubt developed a good sense of the story: what is shown, and what is hidden. Those of us watching the news at home see only what is shown to us - the primetime anchor delivering her analysis, or the ground reporter giving his report from the frontlines of a momentous event. But as always, there is more to the world of media than meets the eyes... Shashi Tharoor Author & Parliamentarian Here is Brajesh Rajput once again, as a proficient author! Storytelling along with remarkable expressions. Brajesh's writing is a lively account of grief, joy, ups and downs of politics, and several incidents, that too, from an objective point of view - things which a TV reporter is unable to tell due to haste involved in covering news and reporting it. - Rasheed Kidwai Author and Political Analyst Whatever Brajesh Rajput writes is bound to contain certain characteristics - excellent readability, the art of engraving scenes and emotions through words, extreme sensitivity of capturing emotions along with detailed descriptions which has neither reduced nor worn out during decades of reporting. This fifth book by Brajesh brings us face to face with not only the incidents and news but also the truth behind them which is, otherwise, beyond the reach of the camera. - Rahul Dev Senior Journalist and Analyst
Mobile Journalism

- Book Type:

- Description: This book on mobile journalism stitches together a tapestry of knowledge that will enable academics, students and the common people to have a deep and sound understanding about MoJo. Mobile journalism has seen an exponential growth in the recent years, with a large number of people taking to MoJo in their effort to tell stories. The mobile phone has practically revolutionized the way journalism was being pursued and significantly opened up the field of mass communication. The journey of the mobile phone from just being an instrument for making and receiving calls to today being the harbinger of change has been dramatic and perhaps, without any parallel. It is a fine example of the impact that technology has on everyday life of the ordinary people. A key aspect of this phenomenal growth has been the rapid advances in the technology that is now rolled into the mobile phone. Right from shooting high- quality images and videos to the software that can process those files to mind-boggling storage to handling a wide variety of activities, necessary for storytelling are now a part and parcel of mobile phones. Intrepid journalists as well as common people are now able to do a number of tasks for which they were earlier dependent on desktops and laptops. To generate and share stories on the move is an important differentiator.

K.R. Malkani Hindu-Muslim Dialogue

- Description: The BJP believes in the unity of the Hindustan Peninsula and the equality of all its people. It stands for “Justice for all and appeasement of none”. It welcomes diversity so long as it does not destroy our overall unity. It invites the people of India, Pakistan and Bangladesh to get over the trauma of the last fifty years, and draw on the historic experience of preceding centuries to weave a new and happier pattern of life in the Hindustan Peninsula. After all the hullabaloo about riots, most of the Hindus and Muslims are living in peace and amity most of the time. India and Pakistan, with all their hostility, have never fought for more than two weeks at a time. (Iran and Iraq bled each other for eight long years!) Even in the year of Partition, the best singers in Har Mandir, Amritsar, were Muslims. The men, who built the ‘samadhi’ of Dr. Hedgewar, the founder of RSS, in Nagpur, were Muslims. With all our diversities, we in the Hindustan Peninsula are One People, whatever the number of states. We can, and must, live in peace and amity. — from this book

K.R. Malkani & The Motherland : Voices of the Nation
- Author Name:
Ed. Anirban Ganguly
- Book Type:

- Description: In its brief existence of about four years, between 1971 and 1975, ʻThe Motherlandʼ, edited by K.R. Malkani (1921-2003) achieved rare distinction and recognition in the world of journalism. It established itself as a fearless and uninhibited voice of the nation, relentlessly exposing the decay seeping into India’s body-politic by the early 1970s. In that respect ʻThe Motherland’sʼ advocacy of ʻIndia Firstʼ and its unalloyed articulation of India’s national interest remain unsurpassed. It was also its strident and uncompromising criticism of the Indira Congress and the Prime Minister’s ways, which eventually led Indira Gandhi to shut it down at the first given opportunity after she imposed the Emergency. ʻThe Motherlandʼ was, “The only paper in India to announce on 26th June the imposition of the Emergency, arrest of leaders and the wave of national shock.” This collection of K.R.Malkani’s columns in ʻThe Motherlandʼ offers an insight into Indian politics and society in the years just before Emergency was imposed by Indira Gandhi. It is a record of India’s political history a quarter century after independence and is a very useful reckoner for the general reader for understanding the years that led to the imposition of the Emergency.

Sri Aurobindo and Shakespeare
- Author Name:
Dr. Meenu Sodhi Sharma

- Description: In this book an attempt has been made to compare the two legendary writers by comparing the eastern way of thinking with the western way. Shakespeare is amongst the writers Sri Aurobindo holds in high esteem. Sri Aurobindo’s admiration for the great dramatist resulted in obvious Shakespearean influences on him. He adopts for his plays Elizabethan model of drama perfected by Shakespeare’s genius. Shakespeare’s influence is traceable also in Sri Aurobindo’s sonnets. It is said that Sri Aurobindo had Shakespearean literature on his bed-side when he left his mortal remains. Both the great writers were not satisfied by merely holding mirror to the nature but due to their greater and deeper life power, they recreated the human life in its beauty and completeness. Therefore, there is an obvious need to compare and contrast Shakeapeare and Sri Aurobindo so as to bring out affinities that may be there between their creative ideal and vision as well as their poetic and dramatic art, along with the former’s influence on the later. In this book an attempt has been made to fulfill the need and to contribute, in some measure to the appreciation of Sri Aurobindo’s poetry and plays. It also briefly touches upon Indian response to Shakespeare. It focuses mainly on Sri Aurobindo’s numerous insights and critical observations on him. To sum up writings of the two such outstanding writers, who represent two very different ways of thinking. On one hand Shakespeare potrays lot of blood shed, gory tales and a wild kind of poetic justice in his writings, but on the other hand Sri Aurobindo truely follows Indian ethos of non violence or ‘Ahimsa’. The author underlines the stark similarities and differences in both the writer’s exploring their plays and sonnets. The structure of plays and sonnets may be same of both the greatest minds but ethos and personna ingrained in their writings is quite different.
